From an intimate look at life inside an infamous immigration detention centre on Manus Island; to the experiences of a woman growing up as the only hearing person in her family; to the artwork made by Guantanamo Bay inmates – have a listen to the five exceptional programmes in the running to win this year’s DARA.
The finalists were selected by a judging panel of academics and documentary-makers, and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Saturday 8 September during Open City Documentary Festival. The winner will receive £3,000 and a runner-up will be awarded £1,000.
